CONDE NAST TRAVELER “READERS CHOICE AWARD” FOR CHIEF'S CAMP
October 2005: We are delighted to advise that Chief's Camp has received the esteemed “Readers' Choice” Award from Conde Nast Traveler magazine as the top “Africa Resort & Camp”.
Chief's Camp was amongst the top three finalists that included Singita and Phinda, who vied for this prestigious award. The choice was made by a poll of 22,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers culminating in a glittering ‘Oscar' like event being held on 17 October 2005 in the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Located on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo concession of the Moremi Game Reserve, considered the predator capital of Africa , guests experience luxury and tradition at Chief's Camp. Each luxury bush pavilion boasts an en suite bathroom as well as a private viewing deck overlooking the flood plain. Chief's Camp has been so skilfully integrated into the landscape that guests often view game without leaving camp. Activities include game viewing in open 4X4 vehicles as well as tranquil mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions (subject to water levels).
Other luxury African properties in the Sanctuary Lodges & Camps portfolio include Olonana in Kenya 's Masai Mara; Swala in Tanzania 's Tarangire National Park and Kusini in the Serengti; Gorilla Forest Camp in Uganda 's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Botswana 's Chobe Chilwero bordering the Chobe National Park as well as Stanley 's Camp and Baines' Camp in a private concession in the Okavango Delta.
