October 2004 - Baines' swimming pool

BAINES' CAMP SWIMMING POOL

October 2004: Construction of the Baines' Camp swimming pool was delayed due to high water levels. Since the water levels have now subsided, construction has once again resumed. To keep disturbances to a minimum, the construction team will only work six hours per day and every effort will be made to work whilst guests are out of camp on activities. The pool is scheduled to be complete by mid-November 2004.

The pool, which will be similar to the kidney shaped Stanley 's Camp pool, will be situated between rooms 3 and 4 and will be 6.5 metres by 3.5 metres. The pool will be raised ensuring that the lagoon water surrounds the pool once the water levels rise again.

A walkway between rooms 3 and 4 leads down to a deck which then leads up to the pool with a flight of stairs. From the pool level deck, another flight of stairs leads you to a thatched sala (covered relaxation area) providing panoramic views of the Boro River & lagoon. The pool area will be complimented with comfortable loungers and umbrellas.
